Wash
Before repairing your deck, remove dirt and debris from the surface of your deck and between boards. Allow deck to dry completely. If you are using a power washer be sure to keep the pressure system moving to avoid damage to your decking.
Repair
Repair damaged boards and tighten loose nails and screws. If a nail is only slightly protruded, you could do more harm that good by trying to pull it out. In that case, hammer the nail in so that the nail head is flush with the board.
Stain & Seal
Moisture, insects and sunlight can effect the look and life of your deck. To protect against the elements, stain and/or seal your deck annually.
